How Inset handles your object-storage assets, account information, and usage data

2026/07/16

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to the Inset (Inset.im) website and its S3 Web Browser, asset organization, and object storage sync services. Unreleased features do not create a current data-processing commitment.

We process data according to features that are actually available. A planned feature does not allow us to collect data for that feature in advance.

2. Local Images and Libraries

Inset is an S3 Web Browser for Organizing Assets. In the current version:

  • Inset can access a folder or object storage only after you deliberately select, authorize, or connect it.
  • Inset accesses relevant files only to display images, create previews, read image details, or perform an import or organization action you request.
  • Images, thumbnails, primary colors, file details, and library records are stored primarily in your folder, browser, or your own object storage.
  • Object storage credentials remain in your browser and are not uploaded to Inset servers.
  • We do not use local images by default for advertising, sale, public display, or model training.

Your browser may remember authorized folders, storage connections, recent libraries, viewing preferences, sorting preferences, and local library records so that you can continue later. You can clear these records through browser settings and revoke the website's folder or storage permission.

3. Information We May Process

Depending on the features you choose to use, we may process:

  • Account information: Your name, email address, avatar, and sign-in method when you register or sign in.
  • Session and security information: Necessary identifiers used to keep you signed in, prevent abuse, and protect your account.
  • Basic access records: Access time, request status, browser type, device type, and IP address needed to operate and secure the service.
  • Payment information: If paid features become available and you purchase them, payment providers may process the product, amount, order status, and payment result. We do not directly store complete card details.
  • Mailing preferences: Your email address and subscription status only when you actively subscribe or enable a related setting.
  • Support communications: Information and contact details you choose to provide when reporting a problem.

Inset does not use your image library for advertising profiles and does not sell your personal information.

4. Browser Storage and Necessary Identifiers

Inset may use browser storage, browser databases, and necessary session identifiers to remember sign-in status, language, theme, folder authorization, library records, and preferences. They support product functionality and are not used for cross-site advertising tracking.

Clearing browser data may remove local library records, storage connections, and preferences. It does not delete original files already stored in your folder or object storage.

5. How We Use Information

We use relevant information only to:

  • provide sign-in, library organization, and account features;
  • restore your state and preferences;
  • process services you deliberately purchase or subscribe to;
  • keep the service secure, diagnose failures, and prevent abuse;
  • respond to feedback and improve Inset.

6. Service Providers

We may use hosting, sign-in, email, or payment providers for specific features. When you choose third-party sign-in, email subscriptions, or payments, those providers process necessary information under their own privacy policies.

We share information only as needed to provide the selected feature and do not sell personal information.

7. Retention and Deletion

  • You control and retain local images and library files.
  • Browser records remain until you clear site data, revoke permission, or change browser environments.
  • Account information remains while your account is active. You may use account deletion or request deletion through the available support channel.
  • Order, security, and essential service records may be retained for a reasonable period where required for fulfillment, security, or law.

8. Your Choices and Rights

You may:

  • use currently available local features without creating an account;
  • refuse or revoke folder access;
  • clear local browser records and preferences;
  • manage or delete images in your local library;
  • request access, correction, or deletion of account information;
  • unsubscribe from emails.

Some browsers have limited support for local folder access. After permission is revoked, Inset cannot continue reading that library unless you authorize it again.

9. Security and Local File Risks

We take reasonable measures to protect online accounts and service data, but no online service or local file operation can guarantee absolute security. Keep a separate backup of important libraries and avoid having multiple programs modify the same library at once to reduce conflicts or file damage.

10. Feature Changes

If future AI, LAN, NAS, or team features require new forms of data processing, we will explain them before activation and request your choice or consent where required.

11. Children

Inset is not directed to children who cannot legally consent to personal data processing on their own. Children should use the service only with a guardian's consent and guidance.

12. Changes and Contact

We may update this policy as the product and legal requirements change. Material changes will be explained on this page or through an in-product notice.

For privacy questions or requests to access or delete related information, use the support channel published within Inset.
